SocialGood Lagos, one of the local hubs of the United Nations Foundation plus Social Good program, and partner of Fondazione Aurora, held its annual Social Good Summit on Saturday, September 16, 2023. Themed Ideas Shaping Our World, the summit brought together changemakers and social entrepreneurs who shared their thoughts on how to accelerate progress towards the SDGs in Nigeria.

The event had in attendance Mr Niyi Yusuf, Managing Partner at Verraki Capital who delivered the keynote address, emphasising the power of ideas and young people to transform our world. There was also a special remark by Austin Emeanua, YALI/MWF Coordinator, U.S. Consulate General, Lagos. The event had two panel sessions and two innovation speeches.

The high point of the summit was the announcement of the winners of the Shaping Ideas Contest 2023. The SocialGoos Lagos Shaping Ideas Contest is designed to identify and support innovative solutions that are geared towards accelerating progress towards achieving the SDGs in Nigeria. The 2023 cycle focused on Health, Education, Climate, and Gender. The finalists were HaleSpace, BinPay, African Climate Stories, and HarvestEd. African Climate Stories, won the grand prize while HaleSpace and BinPay came first and second runners-up respectively.
